Okay, so I know that I promised you all an update back in August. I apologize that it wasn't done.
We finished up the summer session of STM ( Short Term Missions) back on August 5th. This past summer we worked with 12 teams from 12 different locations, plus a DTS outreach from Mazatlan. Each team was different and unique. Each one of them brought something different to Monterrey, but their focus was all the same...to share Jesus with the people of Monterrey and to show them His love.

There are so many beautiful things that happened this summer. To many to recall and even if could I would have to have a book to write them all in. So, I will share a few of them with you.

The last week of summer we had a group of 37 from Farmsville, VA. They were a young group of people that were on fire for Christ, had a desire to know more of Him, and were a group of prayer warriors. It was awesome to watch them interact with the people and love on them. One memory that sticks in my mind is the day that we went to the orphanage. I was observing the team interact with the kids, and what I saw was these kids being touched by Jesus. The love that they gave them was genuine, it wasn't out of self pity or from a sense of duty. It was real, the love of Christ was flowing through them. It was a beautiful thing to see and it was like watching Jesus play with these children. I felt the presence of the Lord there that day and believe that others did as well.

One of the Highlights of this summer was going to the desert town of Paredon. We took a team of 12 Canadians outside of the city of Monterrey to this little town that was literally in the middle of no where. We stayed in a rach style adobe home. All of us girls took up the room inside and our guys slept out in the vans ( thanks guys for being gentlemen). Here in Paredon we experienced outhouses, stray dogs wandering into our room at night, cock roaches in the outhouses at night, no showers, crowing roosters at 3 am, rain and mud, wild rides in the desert... all in all it made the trip more memorable. During our time there we worked with a small congregation there. Our time was spent doing prayer walks, hanging out with the people in the community, visiting small desert villages, and doing open air services.
One thing that stood out to me was the faith of the Christians there. The life that they have out there is so hard, and the hearts of the people is so hard. There perserverance and there faith inspired me.

Well, this is ony part of what happened this summer. There are so many more memories and good times, that I would not be able to recall them all.
